About ALC 2025
Welcome to the 5th Applied Learning Conference –
Navigating the Future: Competency-based Education for a Skills-Ready Workforce
As we look toward the future, the demands of a rapidly evolving economy call for innovative approaches to education. Competency-based Education (CBE) is poised to reshape how we prepare learners, ensuring that both individuals and enterprises are equipped with the essential competencies required to thrive. At this conference, we will explore how CBE can bridge the gap between education and industry needs, fostering a skills-ready workforce.
With Singapore’s national focus on lifelong learning through initiatives like the SkillsFuture movement, the need for a future-ready workforce is more critical than ever. As Singapore’s first University of Applied Learning, SIT is committed to driving this transformation through CBE. This conference will delve into how CBE equips learners with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in an ever-changing workforce, and how it can be adopted by both academia and industry.
In a unique opportunity, this year’s Applied Learning Conference will run back-to-back with the National Technology Enhanced Learning Conference (NTEL) 2025, taking place on 4 July 2025. NTEL, initiated by the Ministry of Education in 2015, provides a platform for cross-institutional sharing and discussions on educational technology. To learn more about NTEL, please visit www.ntel2025.sg.
We invite you to participate in a series of plenary speeches, panel discussions, and interactive sessions, where you will engage in insightful conversations and exchange ideas on the role of CBE in shaping the future workforce. Together, we will discover strategies for implementing CBE effectively and fostering stronger connections between education and the evolving demands of the industry.
